思うに、何かちょっと物を作ったりすることを楽しみにできる人は貧乏に強い。創作は消費ほどお金がかからないし、作ったものがお金に変わることもときどきあったりする。紙とペンさえあれば、もしくはパソコンさえあれば何時間でも退屈しない、というタイプの人がよく訓練された年季の入った無職には多いように思う。ギター一本あれば何時間でも独りでぺらぺら弾いて遊んでられるとか。故・中島らも御大は「「教養」とは学歴のことではなく、「一人で時間をつぶせる技術」のことでもある」と言っていた。
